How far is the house from the ski lifts?

From 706A, you can walk 850 feet to the point where Forest Road dead-ends into the ski slope, put on your skis, and ski down to the Lionshead Gondola.  At the end of the day, you can ski from the top of Vail Mountain back to Forest Road, take off your skis, and walk 850 feet back to the house.
